I believe we live in a broken, imperfect world. Each of us has faced hurts and wounds, also known as trauma. These traumas take a toll, impacting the ways we see ourselves, others and can even make changes to our brain, our body and our spirit.

At Hope Rising I use integrative approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address traumatic injury. With your consent, we can integrate faith based approaches. Other interventions utilized are Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Cognitive behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused techniques (SF), and attachment based approaches. These interventions are aimed at helping you live a healthier and more satisfying life.

I have worked in the mental health field since 2002 and have an array of experience with children, adults, adolescents and couples.
I earned my Master's Degree in Professional Counseling From Liberty University and later went on to complete my post graduate work at a local mental health agency, while there I provided outpatient therapy to a wide variety of clients, many dealing with a serious mental health diagnosis.
After obtaining my state license and my NCC (Nationally Certified Counselor), I began working in a private practice setting, providing individual, couples, and family counseling from a faith based perspective.
Some of my other experience includes working with the military population. Providing behavioral health and wellness coaching to active duty and reservist Marines.

Additionally, I have served as a volunteer mentor for the National Board for Certified Counselors Foundation

I belong to the American Association of Christian Counselors.  I am married and have two children.
