A good marriage requires hard work and sometimes you need assistance along the way. Whether it is one issue you are facing or several, marriage counseling can help. I offer marriage counseling from a traditional perspective. Often I use aspects of Emotionally Focused Therapy. This type of therapy focuses on creating a strong attachment, a safe haven, in your marriage.

Upon your first phone call to Hope Rising, some basic information will be collected. You will be asked to choose one of you to be an “identified client” this is the person who we will bills insurance information under. We will also ask for your email as well as your partner’s email.  Prior to your first appointment, you both will receive an email inviting you to open your client portal on Theranest.  Once opened, you will fill out some initial intake information. This will be electronically signed and saved in your portal. This saves time during your first appointment. It also gives your therapist time to view your reasons for seeking therapy and a bit of family history on the identified client before your appointment.

At your appointment, your therapist will review the forms you signed, giving you a chance to ask any questions you may have. Then you will talk in more detail about why you are seeking therapy, family history,   medical history, as well as any past counseling you have had. Toward the end of your visit some basic goals for treatment will be discussed. On average this appointment and other therapy appointments will last about one hour.

You should know that although we will spend time a bit more time collecting specific information on one person during the intake, there will be time spent discussing what issues the two of you are facing in your relationship. Subsequent sessions will be focused on providing specific care to your marriage. Each session lasts between 45 minutes to one hour.
